A chamber decision is not a published payback number. It is a test of what your room can sell, how quickly demand builds, and whether the cash position stays acceptable before the clinic reaches mature utilization.

Use the standalone hyperbaric chamber ROI calculator to model 24 controls across equipment, financing, revenue and running costs. It returns ramp-adjusted payback, a day-one-full comparison, break-even utilization and the deepest cash position without presenting any result as a promise.

Room dimensions, target throughput and destination details are used only to prepare a quotation.

ROI and Payback Decision Snapshot

Published payback estimates range from about six to twenty-four months, largely because utilization and ramp assumptions differ. A usable decision records those assumptions first, then compares the ramp-adjusted answer with the day-one-full answer.

Four checks before you model

01

Price the installed option

Use a delivered equipment figure together with room preparation and installation, rather than treating the chamber list price as the whole capital decision. A quotation should identify the configuration, destination and electrical or fit-out choices that sit behind that number.

02

Stress-test the room schedule

Start with the staffed hours, the complete session duration and realistic turnaround. Then enter only the slots the room can physically support; a revenue target cannot create capacity beyond the available day.

03

Separate cash from accounting

Depreciation helps compare cost per session, while the initial cash outflow or deposit and monthly payment determine the cash trough. Read both views before deciding whether a purchase or finance term is tolerable during the ramp.

04

Model a range, not one story

Run a conservative, expected and mature-demand case with the same equipment option. If the decision works only after setting the ramp to zero, treating full utilization as month one is the assumption to revisit.

For the equipment-price side of the decision, our hyperbaric chamber cost guide explains what drives the delivered figure itself.

The Five Inputs That Decide Your Payback Period

The calculator has 24 controls, but five do most of the work. Estimate them before refining secondary costs, and use realized values rather than a mature best case.

01

1. Utilization, not capacity

Utilization is the share of available slots that actually sell. Moving target utilization from 40% to 55% changes monthly contribution by more than a $10,000 swing in chamber price does.

02

2. The ramp period

During installation and commissioning, fixed overhead and any monthly payment continue while demand builds. In the calculator, the selected ramp month is the month in which target utilization applies; use zero only for the day-one-full comparison.

03

3. Realized session price

Enter the blended price after course, introductory and membership discounts. A 15% package discount on a $150 session removes $22.50 from every session’s contribution.

04

4. Effective staff cost

Use the full session length, including compression and decompression, together with effective staff cost per billable session-hour. When one employee supervises a shared cycle, divide loaded hourly staff cost by average billed occupants per cycle before entering it.

05

5. Fixed monthly overhead

Rent, insurance, software and allocated front-desk time set the utilization floor. The break-even utilization output shows where that floor sits for your figures.

MC4000 Hyperbaric Chamber Cost Analysis

Secondary inputs

A 3.2 kW chamber running 105 minutes at $0.17 per kWh costs about $0.95 in power. Consumables and power together rarely exceed 3% of session revenue, but they still belong in a disciplined model.

Compare ramp-adjusted payback with day-one-full payback in the standalone calculator; the gap is the working-capital penalty of the ramp.

Chamber Class and Specifications That Change the Model

Class sets both sides of the model: the capital number you enter and the session price the market may accept. The specifications below matter because they also constrain session length, room preparation, capacity, service planning or staff time.

Soft-shell, 1.3–1.5 ATA

Our ST701 to ST1001 use medical-grade TPU with a nylon Oxford outer and dual- or triple-layer YKK zipper seal. They run 1.3–1.5 ATA with 72 L/min air flow and 5 or 10 L/min oxygen concentrators at 93% ±3% purity.

At roughly 28–40 kg, the room needs no structural work. This is the lowest capital entry and is typically positioned for wellness.

Soft-shell hyperbaric chamber ST701 to ST1001

Hard-shell, 1.5 ATA

Our HP1501 line runs 1.5 ATA with 72 L/min air flow and a designed session of 60–90 minutes. The vessel volume is 1361 L at 0.6 bar under our EU pressure equipment certificate.

The line is manufactured under ISO 13485:2016; verify the certificate scope for the specific model under consideration.

Hard-shell hyperbaric chamber HP1501 line

Hard-shell, 2.0 ATA single occupant

HP2202 runs 100 kPa—2.0 ATA, tolerance ±3—at 70 L/min, and HE5000Mono covers the same pressure in the HE5000 build. HP2202 vessel volume is 970 L at 1 bar.

HE5000 and HP2202 are the named models in the SGS witnessed pressure test dated 17 April 2025.

Hard-shell hyperbaric chamber 2.0 ATA single occupant HP2202

Hard-shell, 2.0 ATA multi-occupant

HE5000, HE5000-PLUS and DIA-HE5000 use 304 stainless steel with a 4.0 mm wall and a 12 mm ±0.2 polycarbonate door. Air flow ranges 120–280 L/min across the line; chamber volume is 4150 L at 1 bar.

DIA-HE5000 reaches full 2.0 ATA in 8 minutes 30 seconds using dual compression.

ENGINEERING & COMMERCIAL REVIEW

Factory-Direct Configuration, Price and Delivery Review

Price, payment terms, warranty and lead time depend on model, configuration, destination and volume, so the calculator uses your delivered figure rather than a category average. An engineer can answer wall-thickness, flow, compression and configuration questions from the design files.

Decision-relevant proof

Shanghai Baobang Medical Equipment Co., Ltd has manufactured hyperbaric oxygen chambers for over 17 years and exports to more than 126 countries. On request, we can provide ISO 13485 evidence, the EU pressure-equipment certificate naming eleven hard-shell vessels, and the dated SGS pressure-test report for HE5000 and HP2202.

Certification by Model Line

Certification is stated per model line, with certificate numbers and dates, because a certificate covers the scope written on it and nothing more. Where a line has no certification we can evidence, this page says nothing about it; a supplier who will not send the scope page is a red flag worth acting on.

Hard-shell pressure-equipment boundary

EU Pressure Equipment Directive certificate 10.07.12125 is a Module H full quality assurance certificate issued by EUROCERT under notified body 1128, valid 17 January 2024 to 16 January 2027. Its annex names eleven hard-shell vessels individually; no soft-shell model appears there because a fabric chamber is not a pressure vessel under the directive.

SGS inspection report SHINIPC2500306, inspection date 17 April 2025: pressure testing of hard hyperbaric chamber models HE5000 and HP2202 against ASME PVHO-1 clause 1-7.8 and ASME Section VIII Division 1 clause UG-99, with a satisfactory result.

This is not an ASME code stamp; it is a third-party witnessed test on two named models.

FINANCIAL RISK ASSESSMENT & BOUNDARY CONDITIONS

When the Numbers Do Not Work

A payback model that never returns a bad answer is not a model. These are configurations where the arithmetic says do not buy, and where the deepest cash position matters before a quotation is accepted.

FIG 1.0 // HBOT CONFIGURATION
MACY-PAN HBOT Hyperbaric Chamber Factory Configuration
01

No referral source

A chamber with no clinical or partner referral relationship ramps on walk-in demand alone. Enter a starting utilization near zero and a ramp beyond eighteen months, then read the deepest cash position.

02

Break-even above a realistic ceiling

If break-even utilization is higher than the rate you honestly expect to reach, the configuration cannot work at those prices. Change the price, overhead or class—not the expectation.

03

Financing term shorter than the ramp

A 36-month term against an 18-month ramp means half the loan is serviced by a half-empty chamber. Check the deepest cash position before signing.

04

Session length the room cannot absorb

A 120-minute session in a room available six hours a day yields three slots. If the revenue assumption needs six, the constraint is the room, and no chamber fixes it.

Regional note: the United States market

Buyers modelling a US deployment need one regulatory fact before assuming a revenue line. 21 CFR 868.5470 defines a hyperbaric chamber as a Class II device, and FDA product classification CBF lists regulation 868.5470, Class 2 and submission type 510(k).

Clearance terminology

For product code CBF, use “cleared” rather than “approved” when referring to a specific 510(k). That clearance belongs to the named manufacturer and device in the submission; it does not transfer to every chamber in the category.

Verify any supplier yourself, including us. 21 CFR 801.109 addresses prescription-device sale only to or on the order of an appropriately licensed practitioner and specifies Rx labeling. We make no FDA clearance claim on this page; our compliance frame is CE marking together with ISO 13485 and ISO 9001.

Ownership and use qualification depend on intended use, labeling, state law and applicable local rules. Confirm the position with regulatory counsel or the competent authority before purchase; this page is not legal advice.

!

Do not enter a US reimbursement or insurance-billing revenue line unless your own regulatory position supports it.

If the model only pays back with that line included, it does not pay back.

Questions Buyers Ask Before They Model

Published figures range from about six months to twenty-four—a fourfold spread driven by utilization assumptions, not equipment pricing. The standalone calculator returns your own figure and reports the day-one-full number beside it, so you can see how much of any published estimate is the ramp assumption. None of it is a promise about your clinic.

Enter the rate you expect once the chamber is mature, then your month-one rate and the months between them. With no basis for a target, run the model backwards and read the break-even utilization output instead.

Capacity is session length including compression divided into the hours the room is staffed; hard-shell lines are designed for 60 to 120 minute sessions. A ten-hour day at 105 minutes gives roughly five clean slots after turnaround, and only multi-occupant chambers raise that without extending the day.

Pressure class is the main driver of accepted session pricing in most markets, and it moves capital cost in the same direction. The model asks for both rather than assuming a relationship between them.

Staff time dominates: at $26 per operating hour a 105-minute session carries $45.50 in staff cost, against roughly $0.95 of electricity for a 3.2 kW chamber at $0.17 per kWh. Consumables and power together rarely exceed 3% of session revenue, and fixed overhead attributed to the room usually matters more than both combined.

Model both. The funding selector switches between a single capital outflow and a deposit plus monthly payments; financing can shorten time to positive cash while lengthening total payback.

It depends largely on whether referral relationships exist before installation. With no basis for an estimate, run several ramp lengths and see which still work.

Soft-shell units at 1.3 ATA to 1.5 ATA have the lowest capital entry and need no room reinforcement, weighing 28 to 40 kg in the ST series; hard-shell units at 2.0 ATA cost more and support higher session pricing. Enter both as separate runs.

Yes. It can increase billable session places within a shared cycle without extending the day. Enter billable session places as slots per day, then calculate effective staff cost per billable session-hour separately because multiplying slots alone does not model staff sharing.

Ask for certificate numbers and dates, then read the scope text rather than the title. ISO 13485 certificate 117 24 Q0M 0002 R4M names portable and hard chambers explicitly; for European pressure vessels, ask which models appear in the annex.

One set—a single chamber for a first clinic room is a normal order, not an exception. Price, payment terms, warranty and lead time depend on model, configuration and destination, so they are quoted rather than published.

Within 24 hours on business days, reviewed by an engineer rather than generated from a price list. Send room dimensions, ceiling height, available voltage and target sessions per day.
